Spam from Vietnam

We have been forced into the difficult position of spam blocking Yahoo! Vietnam due to over two hundred suspected spam-related accounts using that mail service. The admin team is concerned about the free flow of information between our website and the nation of Vietnam being disturbed by these routine disturbances.

Unfortunately, Vietnamese visitors are requested to use an alternative, preferably ISP based e-mail address, as we will no longer accept member registrations from Yahoo! Mail in Vietnam at this time. Existing members with the service will not face access disruptions, but are encouraged to change e-mails used on the website and re-authenticate. (It is estimated that about six legitimate Yahoo! Vietnam users have actively used or contributed to the website recently).

So far, most Vietnamese based spam threats have been automatically thwarted through our spam prevention systems. However, if the situation becomes more serious, we will likely require that all existing members with Yahoo! Vietnam e-mail addresses re-authenticate with a valid address.

Unfortunately, it appears that the Yahoo mail services in Vietnam are being heavily abused by spam advertisers.
