I recently build a new computer and all seems fine except a few certain thing. I initially had a lot of freezing and blue screens so i did a memory diagnostic check and found that one of the modules was broken so got it replaced. Anyway, every time i start the computer up it gets to the windows 7 loading screen and then gets BSOD. However, if i turn it off and then on again after this it will work. I have to manually turn it off as opposed to letting it restart for this to work. It happens every single time I start the computer up. Was wondering what it could be. I am also getting occasional BSOD during the running of windows. Could it be the motherboard thats the issue becuase it seems highly unlikely that i got another set of bad ram modules?

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffdfff96933153, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, bitfield :
	bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80002ccaa37, address which referenced memory

I take it the later is this:

4. Update the overclocker driver and do not overclock until BSODs are gone:

AsrOcDrv.sys Thu Jan 08 02:43:57 2009

Go to ASRock support site --> downloads for your motherboard --> utilities --> update them including the one used to overclock. For as long as suffering from BSODs <--> do not overclock, not even slightly.

thank you for your help, just have to see if it works over the next few days.

your help has been much appreciated

the random blue screens that occur during the running of windows has now stopped so i thank you for that.

however, the blue screen on start up still continues. it will get to windows loading screen then blue screen every time until i manually turn off the power and start again.

BAD_POOL_HEADER (19)
The pool is already corrupt at the time of the current request.
This may or may not be due to the caller.
The internal pool links must be walked to figure out a possible cause of
the problem, and then special pool applied to the suspect tags or the driver
verifier to a suspect driver.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000003, the pool freelist is corrupt.
Arg2: fffff8a0004cf530, the pool entry being checked.
Arg3: fffff8a0004cf530, the read back flink freelist value (should be the same as 2).
Arg4: ffffffff00000061, the read back blink freelist value (should be the same as 2).

i am almost certain this has to be a hardware fault because i have reinstalled windows and this problem still occurs. Did a complete reformatting of the drive beforehand and it never solved anything. here are the latest crash dumps. if its not the ram could it be a faulty motherboard causing so many BSOD's? thank you

DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is
caused by drivers that have corrupted the system pool. Run the driver
verifier against any new (or suspect) drivers, and if that doesn't turn up
the culprit, then use gflags to enable special pool.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffb800a16f9c0, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff80002daf0cd, address which referenced memory

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe. Typically the address is just plain bad or it
is pointing at freed memory.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffd8a008b7a030, memory referenced.
Arg2: 0000000000000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation.
Arg3: fffff80002c8b6e0, If non-zero, the instruction address which referenced the bad memory
	address.
Arg4: 0000000000000007, (reserved)

i have done both of the above recommendations and here are the captured screen shots

Yea, RAM is the problem, the settings are way wrong. To fix them, load setup defaults in the bios, save, reboot, and repost your new screenshot of CPU-Z memory tab.

right, here is the attached CPU-Z screenshot have manually changed the timings in the bios to 9-9-9-20. Couldn't find any options to change the voltage but they were rated at 1.65v so i presume thats what they are at. I will post if it blue scrrens on start up again. I was wondering fi there is a donations page on this website because i think you as a team deserve payment (im a student so its just little) but it could all add up. you provide an excellent line of assistance for people such as myself and it is very much appreciated.

Pleasure, thanks a bunch Sir. : )

Yes, auto should be enough to set the voltage right. Sometimes it needs to be set manually as specified by the manufacturer. If you get another blue screen, then give me the link to your RAM rated specs. So we can reverify the settings.

right, here is what has happened since last post. The computer problems relating to start up and BSOD seem to get worse as more updates are installed. I restored windows using an image that i had created when i first installed windows (+a few programs like steam and that sort). the computer seems perfectly stable at this point. However, once the windows updates install it seems to start going to blue screen on start up. After a few more days it takes a god ten minutes before it actually boots into windows and finally after that it very occasionally boots but just shows a black screen after the windows 7 logon screen. I have not got any minidump files because i had to use a system image because windows no longer booted. I have tried a different psu (i know it doesnt make a difference but tried it anyway) The only possible explanation that i can come up with is either a physical hard drive or motherboard fault. why else would it perform fine when its on.

I am in the part of the cycle at the moment where i have just used the image and i can play games no problem, it all works like a dream. problem is i know that it will degrade over time. for now i have disabled auto updates which i know is a bad thing but i need to see if this stops windows from seemingly dying!

sorry for so much writing but this seems the only way to describe it

Thank you for clarifying, good post. I just would somewhat doubt windows updates could cause blue screens.
