For the past few days when turning on my computer, Sticky Notes automatically opens on startup. It happens within the first two minutes. I have a program called Soluto that I use to turn on or turn off startup programs but it doesn't list sticky notes. I also deleted a registry entry for RESTART_STICKY_NOTES. After restarting and starting up, Sticky Notes still starts up and the entry in the registry comes back.

Solution
It sounds like Sticky Notes is set to open automatically on startup by a different method than traditional startup programs. Here are a few steps you can take to address this issue:

Method 1: Check Task Manager Startup

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Go to the "Startup" tab.
  3. Look for Sticky Notes in the list of programs that start up with your computer.
  4. If you find Sticky Notes, right-click on it and select "Disable."

    Method 2: Check App Settings

  5. Open Sticky Notes.
  6. Look for any settings related to startup behavior or automatic launch on system startup.
  7. Disable any options that automatically open Sticky Notes at startup.

    Method 3: Use Task Scheduler

  8. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  9. Type taskschd.msc and press Enter to open Task Scheduler.
  10. Navigate to Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Ink > Workspace.
  11. Look for the task related to Sticky Notes and disable it if it's set to run on startup.

Method 4: Registry Edit (Caution: Advanced)

  12. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  13. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
  14. Look for any entry related to Sticky Notes and delete it (make sure you know what you are deleting in the registry as it can cause issues if done incorrectly). After trying these methods, restart your computer to see if Sticky Notes still opens automatically. Make sure to create a system restore point before making changes to the registry to have a backup in case any issues arise. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any issues while following these steps!
