Windows 7 System Restore Points are all gone

I am running windows 7 64 bit home edition. System restore is not working. When I clicked on it, I had no restore points. When I create one manually, It says it created it, but then I close out and go back, and it is gone. Once today, it created one and kept it for an hour or so, but then it was gone. I have plenty of disc space, and have system restore turned on. I checked to see if the shadow copy boxes were checked in msconfig, and they were running. I unchecked them did a reboot, and rechecked them and rebooted, but that didn't work. I only have the one operating system, as I have read that is sometimes an issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The single click download gave me a restore point, but then I closed out, and went to look and see if it was still there, and it was gone.

I am also finding that I cant use system backup. It fails, and when I look in events log, this is one of the many errors that are there.

Drew I ran into this in Oct and suspected the updates from MS. I was dual booting Vista and RC I assumed it had something to do with the dual boot. I never did find out what caused the change.

Trying to backup to a external Hard drive, which is E. I have a little flag down in my task bar telling to run backup, and when I do it fails. I got an error when trying to run that script file on the fouth link. This is an HP computer with vista 32 bit, upgraded to windows 7 64 bit. I also couldn't run system restore when I had Vista. I was hoping doing the install of windows 7 would fix it, but it didin't .
