I was playing Team Fortress 2 and I was trying to play some music off of Youtube through the voice chat. However, the music would always dim to be barely audible when I'd start the voice chat in-game. A member of the Team Fortress 2 community confirmed this was a Windows issue involving open tabs blocking the sound of tabs not open. How do I turn this feature off?

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing an issue with audio ducking on Windows when using multiple tabs with audio in Team Fortress 2. Audio ducking is a feature that automatically lowers the volume of one audio source when another audio source starts playing. This could be what's causing your music to become barely audible when using the voice chat in-game. To address this issue, you can try disabling the audio ducking feature in Windows by following these steps: 1. Disable Sound Ducking in Windows Settings: - Right-click on the Volume icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) and select "Open Sound settings." - Scroll down to the "Advanced sound options" section and click on "App volume and device preferences." -...

Ensure that the "App volume and device preferences" are set to your preference without any ducking. 2. Disable Exclusive Mode: - Right-click on the Volume icon in the system tray and select "Sounds." - Go to the "Playback" tab and right-click on your default playback device. - Select "Properties" and navigate to the "Advanced" tab. - Uncheck the boxes for "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority." - Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes. 3. Check Browser Settings: - If you are using a browser to play YouTube music, check the browser's settings for any audio-related features that might be causing the issue. - Ensure that there are no extensions or plugins affecting audio playback. By following these steps, you should be able to disable the audio ducking feature in Windows and prevent your music from being drowned out when using the voice chat in games like Team Fortress 2.
