Windows 7 The dependency service or group failed to start.ERROR1068

i can.'t get win 7 firewall to start,been on google try ed every thing. when i go to services there are things stopped, firewall is stopped ,but it is checked ,but can't start it or any other service. enable is grayed out.when i open the firewall,and click on, use rec amended settings i also get this error0x8007042c wf can't change some of your settings,thanks for any help you can give me on this, xbill,ps you can try the errors in google to see what i,am up ageist

no help,when i try to start Base filtering engine in services iget ,error e5,access is denied.need more help.thanks for the reply.xbill

XBILL,

1) run "sfc /scannow" at an elevated command prompt
2) After #1, run Bleeping Computers BFE Fix located here.

Does the Base Filtering Engine now start?

as a newbie i need a some help with with how to run or put the file in he command prompt, or do just open it.thanks

XBILL, if you click your Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator. Then you can type in the command.
