Hello.
My DVD+RW with UDF is suddenly write-protected despite I have never finalized it.
I just used it normally, and on the next day, it was suddenly write-protected.

Solution
When a DVD+RW disc appears write-protected without being finalized, it can be an unexpected issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem: 1. Check the Physical Write-Protect Switch: Some optical media, especially SD cards, have a physical write-protect switch. Ensure that your DVD+RW disc does not have a physical switch that has been accidentally set to the write-protected position. 2. Software Write-Protection: Sometimes, software settings can inadvertently write-protect discs. Check your burning software settings to ensure there are no options enabled that would cause the disc to be write-protected. 3. Try Another Burning Software: If the software itself is causing the...

Ensure that your DVD+RW disc does not have a physical switch that has been accidentally set to the write-protected position. 2. Check your burning software settings to ensure there are no options enabled that would cause the disc to be write-protected. 3. Try Another Burning Software: If the software itself is causing the issue, try using a different burning software to see if the problem persists. 4. Check Windows Security Settings: Sometimes Windows security settings or third-party antivirus software can interfere with writing to optical media. Temporarily disable any antivirus software and check if the issue is resolved. 5. Try Formatting the Disc: It's worth attempting to format the write-protected DVD+RW disc. This process can sometimes clear any locks on writing. Be cautious as this will erase the contents of the disc. 6. Test the Disc on Another Computer: Attempt to write to the DVD on a different computer to determine if the write-protection is specific to your computer or the disc itself. 7. Update Firmware: Update the firmware of your DVD writer. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with specific types of discs. If after trying these steps the DVD+RW disc remains write-protected, it's possible that the disc itself may be faulty. In such cases, replacing the disc might be the most straightforward solution.
