I am running W8.1 Update 1 Professional - I would like to switch between my home workgroup and my work workgroup.
home - workgroup (homenetwork) - using TCP/IP - auto
work - workgroup (worknetwork) - using TCP/IP assigned settings
Is there a way to do this without changing the workgroup name and TCP/IP settings each time?
Thanks, bob

Solution
To switch between your home and work workgroups on Windows 8.1 without changing the workgroup name and TCP/IP settings each time, you can set up multiple network profiles. This allows you to switch between different network configurations easily. Here's how you can do it:
Setting Up Multiple Network Profiles in Windows 8.1:
- Create a New Network Location:
- Go to the Control Panel by pressing
Win + Xand selecting "Control Panel." - Click on "Network and Sharing Center."
- Click on "Change adapter settings" on the left-hand side.
- Right-click on your active network connection and select "Properties."
- In the properties window, select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click on "Properties."...
- Go to the Control Panel by pressing

- Note down your current settings, then select the option to obtain an IP address automatically and DNS server address automatically. Click OK to save the changes.
- Press
Win + Ito open the Settings charm. - Click on "Change PC settings."
- Go to "Network."
- Under "Network locations," you can add a new location. Click on "Add a location" to create a new profile for your home and work networks.
- Once you have set up the network profiles, you can easily switch between them.
- To switch to your work network, go to PC settings > Network > Choose the work network location.
- To switch to your home network, repeat the steps above and select your home network location. By setting up different network locations, you can maintain separate network settings for your home and work networks without having to change them manually each time you switch. This way, you can keep your workgroup name and TCP/IP settings intact for each network environment.
- Go to the Control Panel by pressing
