Windows 7 watching camcorder tapes

how do i go about watching my camcorder tapes on my laptop
my camcorder is a Panasonic NV-GS75
my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L500\01U
Windows 7 does not accept the dvd disc called "MotionDV Studio 5.3E LE for DV" that came with the camera,and I think that it might be obsolete because it is about 5 years old.

PS,.,Please be aware I'm an old dinosaur PC numbnut who aint very pc literate and aint much up on pc jargon and abbreviations etc.
So try to give me precise click by click instructions and simple idiot proof steps.

try running the compatibilty wizard for the software, hopefully that will help make old apps run on windows 7

Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
