WD 250 GB Powered External hard drive is NOT read by Windows 7!!! What the...

Yeah, so I recently bought a new computer and stored all my old info on an external hard rive and windows 7 will NOT read the external drive! What is the problem here? Please help asap!!!

What was the prior OS, what type of connection does the external drive have?

Have you checked the computer manufacturer's site to see if they address the problem?
