Windows 7 Will Installing Windows 7 Wipe My Backup Partition on the Same Disk?

I want to install windows 7 on to my windows vista laptop. I have to wipe the hard drive my backup is on the same disk in a different partition. Will the wiping of the hard disk for the installation wipe the backup partition as well?

It shouldn't affect other partitions but you want to back up just in case. Wasn't there an option to make a reinstall disk set? When you go to install make sure you check out the slected partition carefully! To many people here haven't looked closely and picked the wrong one. Make sure the sizes match.
