Hi,

I have an annoying issue with the Window animation (maximising / minimising) option in Advanced settings. Basically I like the glass / transparency / aero peek functions but window animation drives me nuts and slows things down. I turned it off soon after install, but occasionally it just turns itself on again! Just normal use of the computer at this stage - I'm not continually making changes. Any ideas?

Thanks.

It seems like you are experiencing an issue with the window animation settings in Windows, where the animation turns itself back on even after you have disabled it. This can be frustrating, but there are some steps you can take to address this problem:

Steps to Address the Auto-Enabling of Window Animation:

  1. Registry Check:
    • Go to the Start menu and type "regedit" in the search bar to open the Registry Editor.
    • Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
    • Look for the UserPreferencesMask value. This value controls various visual effects, including window animations. Check if it changes back after you disable window animations.
    []Group Policy Settings:...

    []Group Policy Settings:
    • Check if there are any Group Policy settings enforcing the window animation behavior. To do this, type "gpedit.msc" in the Start menu search bar to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
    • Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization and check if there are any policies related to window animations.

    ]Third-Party Software:
    • Sometimes, third-party software or drivers can override system settings. Check if you have any software that might be altering these settings.
    []System File Checker:
    • Run a System File Checker scan to check for any corrupted system files that might be causing the issue.
    [
    ]Check for Updates:
    • Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can address bugs related to window animations.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • You can also try creating a backup of your system settings using a System Restore Point before making changes.
      • Keep an eye on any recent software installations or updates that might coincide with the re-enabling of window animations.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially fix the issue of window animations automatically turning back on in Windows.
