Windows 11 Build 22000.1163 Released: Key Enhancements and Fixes

We're excited to share that Microsoft has just rolled out Windows 11 Build 22000.1163 (KB5018483) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. ## What's New and Improved?



### Enhanced Windows Search

Microsoft has beefed up the Windows search results and overall performance. This should make searching for files, apps, and settings faster and more intuitive.



### Task Manager on Taskbar Context Menu

One of the standout additions: Task Manager is now accessible from the context menu when you right-click the taskbar. This feature will roll out gradually over the coming weeks.



### DCOM and RPC Updates

- Improved DCOM Authentication: The authentication level for all non-anonymous activation requests from DCOM clients will be automatically raised to RPC_C_AUTHN_LEVEL_PKT_INTEGRITY if it falls below Packet Integrity.

- Authentication Level Adjustment: For issues in the Remote Procedure Call Service (rpcss.exe), the authentication level has been raised where necessary, ensuring more secure communications.



### Fixes for Azure AD and Scheduling Tasks

- AAD Application Proxy Connector: Resolved issues where Kerberos tickets weren't retrieved, fixing the “The handle specified is invalid (0x80090301)” error.

- Scheduled Tasks: Addressed issues affecting tasks scheduled to run bi-weekly but executing weekly instead. Now, scheduled tasks should run precisely as intended.



### Graphics and Display Improvements

- Direct3D 9 Games: Fixed issues causing graphics hardware to stop working on non-native Direct3D 9 drivers.

- Chinese Character Fonts: Corrected font widths when formatting specific Chinese characters as bold.

- D3D9 Games: Additional fixes for graphical issues on some platforms.



### Microsoft Edge Enhancements

- IE Mode Issues: Fixed incorrect titles for pop-up windows and tabs.

- Webpage Accessibility: Solved problems preventing webpage openings under certain configurations.



### General Bug Fixes

- IME Compatibility: Resolved compatibility issues with input method editors (IME) using Windows Text Services Framework (TSF) 1.0.

- Universal Printer Reinstallation: Fixed problems preventing the reinstallation of universal printers.

- Duplicate Print Queues: Addressed issues causing original print queues to stop working when duplicates are created.

- Driver Power Usage: Improved power usage for drivers playing hardware-protected DRM content.

- Installation Progress Visibility: Fixed the visibility of installation progress on certain hardware.



### Remote Desktop and Time Zone Issues

- Wrong Time Zone in VDI: Addressed VDI scenarios where sessions used incorrect time zones.

- File Explorer Crashes: Fixed crashes in File Explorer on RD session hosts.



### Miscellaneous Fixes

- BS_PUSHLIKE Button Style: Made buttons with this style more identifiable against dark backgrounds.

- Server Manager Disk Reset: Solved issues where the wrong disk might reset if multiple disks had the same UniqueId.



### Clipchamp and .msi File Fixes

- Clipchamp on Windows 11 SE: Ensured that the Clipchamp application runs properly.

- MSI File Handling: Fixed issues with Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) ignoring .msi files when script enforcement is disabled.
