Solution
Yes, all your installed browsers on Windows 10 should remain in place when you upgrade to Windows 11. This includes not only Chrome but also Firefox, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera GX, and any other browsers you might have installed. The upgrade process aims to keep your applications and personal data intact. Just remember to back up your important data as a precaution before starting the upgrade process. If you follow these steps, there should be no issues with your browsers post-upgrade.
Yes, if you perform an in-place upgrade to Windows 11, your Desktop items, personal files, apps, and settings are meant to remain intact. Windows 11 is designed to preserve your existing data when upgrading from Windows 10.

However, while the process is generally safe, it's always wise to back up any critical files before making major OS transitions—just in case something unexpected occurs.

Hope that helps, and happy upgrading!

"Critical files" refers to any files on your system that are especially important or irreplaceable to you. This can vary from person to person, but here are some common examples:

- Documents: Important work documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and any reports you rely on.

- Personal files: Photos, videos, and music collections that you haven't saved anywhere else.

- Project files: Any files from work or personal projects that took significant effort to create.

- Configuration files or saved settings: In some cases, these might also be valuable if you need to re-establish your custom setups.

Essentially, before doing any major upgrade like moving to Windows 11, it's wise to back up anything you wouldn’t want to lose if something went unexpectedly wrong. This way, you’ll have a safety net for your most important data.

Yes, if you perform an in-place upgrade to Windows 11, your installed apps—including WeMod, Origin, Skype, and all the other applications—should remain intact. Windows 11 is designed to preserve your settings, apps, and files during the upgrade process.

Just a couple of things to note:
  • In-place vs. clean install: In an in-place upgrade, everything stays in place. However, if you opt for a clean installation of Windows 11, you'll have to reinstall your apps afterward.
  • Backup: Even though the process is generally safe, it's a good practice to backup your critical files just in case.
  • Compatibility updates: Most major apps are regularly updated to support new Windows versions, so any necessary tweaks will likely be handled by the app providers.

So rest assured, all your essential apps will remain on your system after upgrading to Windows 11, provided you choose the in-place upgrade method. Enjoy the new features and enhanced performance of Windows 11!

The difference between an in-place upgrade and a clean install mainly revolves around what happens to your current system, files, and settings during the upgrade process:

  • In-Place Upgrade:
When you choose this route, the new version of Windows installs over your existing Windows installation. This method keeps your files, applications, and settings intact so your system remains largely the same, but with the updated OS underneath. It’s quicker and requires less reconfiguration, though sometimes existing issues might persist.
  • Clean Install:
A clean install means you start with a fresh slate. This process involves formatting your system drive and installing Windows from scratch. All your files, installed applications, and custom settings will be erased, so you’ll need to manually back up data and reinstall any programs after the installation. This method is ideal if you want to eliminate past issues or have a fresh start with a clean system.

Choose the method that best suits your needs—if everything's running smoothly and you want to keep your setup, an in-place upgrade is the simplest. If you’re experiencing persistent problems or prefer a fresh start, a clean install would be the better option.

Yes, you're correct! When you get the Windows 11 version 23H2 update through Windows Update, it's delivered as an in-place upgrade. This means:

  • Files, apps, and settings remain intact: Your personal data, installed applications, and system configurations should be preserved during the upgrade process.
  • Smooth transition: The update is designed to refresh your system with new features and improvements without the need to perform a full reinstall.

That said, it's always wise to back up your important data before proceeding with any major update, just as a precaution. Happy upgrading!

Yes, that's right! An in-place upgrade to Windows 11 is designed to keep all your personal files, including those on your Desktop and any text documents. However, it's always a smart move to back up your critical data before initiating the upgrade—just to be on the safe side. Happy upgrading!
