Hello, I'm trying to install Windows7 RC ( believe it's the latest version before they stopped letting people download it ) on my desktop. I currently have an Abit IL9-Pro motherboard installed in my machine. I had to switch from my XFX 680i-LT mobo because it fried after only 6 months of having it but that is besides the point. The disk I have works perfectly, I've used it on my dads laptop, my cousins laptop. It even worked on my 680i-LT but not on this motherboard. I'm wondering if there is any known compatibility issues with Win7 and my current mobo and if there is any work-around / fix to my problem. Thank you for reading.

It seems like you are experiencing compatibility issues when trying to install Windows 7 RC on your desktop with the Abit IL9-Pro motherboard. Here are a few points to consider: 1. Hardware Compatibility: The Abit IL9-Pro motherboard may have compatibility issues with Windows 7, especially if it's an older motherboard model. Sometimes, older hardware may not have the necessary drivers or support for newer operating systems like Windows 7. 2. BIOS Update: One potential solution could be to check if there are any BIOS updates available for your Abit IL9-Pro motherboard. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with newer operating systems. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when updating the BIOS. 3. Driver Support: Ensure that you have the appropriate drivers for your Abit IL9-Pro motherboard that are compatible with Windows 7. Lack of proper drivers can lead to installation issues and hardware malfunctions. 4. Installation Method: Sometimes, the installation media (DVD/USB) can also cause issues. Ensure that the installation disk is clean and doesn't have any scratches. You can also try creating a bootable USB drive if you are using a DVD for installation. 5. Virtualization: Another workaround could be to run Windows 7 in a virtual machine on your current system. VirtualBox or VMware are popular choices for creating virtual environments where you can install different operating systems. 6. Compatibility Mode: If you manage to install Windows 7 but face compatibility issues with certain programs or drivers, you can try using the compatibility mode feature in Windows. Right-click on the program or driver, go to Properties, and then the Compatibility tab to make adjustments. Try these steps to see if they help resolve your issue. If you continue to face problems, it might indicate that the Abit IL9-Pro motherboard might not fully support Windows 7 and may require using alternative solutions like running it in a virtual environment.
