Windows 7 Windows 7 Basic mode and classic mode screen tear issue

Whenever I switch to basic or classic mode I experience screen tear. What gives? I have Acer H257HU monitor FYI.

What do you mean by basic or classic mode? Are you talking about Win7 OS modes, or video modes on your EVGA video card?

In any case, have you tried a different Monitor? If the problem goes away, your existing monitor is probably defective and must be replaced. If the problem persists, it could be due to driver problems such as instability or corruption. At this point, you should attempt to uninstall your current video driver and reinstall with the latest driver available on EVGA website. If that doesn't work, you could try the driver rollback option (which you can google) if available. Many video cards disable this feature on initial installation.

Before you attempt any software repairs such as driver repair, we recommend that you FIRST BACKUP ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA TO EXTERNAL MEDIA! THIS WOULD INCLUDE YOUR LIBRARY FOLDERS FOR DOCUMENTS, PHOTOS, MUSIC, VIDEOS, AND ANY SAVED E-MAILS OR ATTACHMENTS IN ORDER TO AVOID IRRETRIEVABLE DATA LOSS!!!

If the driver repairs suggested above fail, and you have a good backup of your Library folder data, you can try to rollback your Windows to a point in time before you began to get this problem using the W7 built-in SYSTEM RESTORE utility. You may have to go back a few weeks or even a few months, unless your problem has been occurring since you built this system for 6 months or more. This often results in removing the problem if it's software based, and not a hardware failure in your GPU card.

I believe he means these. I've seen tearing occur switching these it's not that uncommon. You can verify that your graphics driver is the most current one. Other settings that could cause this are the display frequency being set to high and having V-sync turned off.
