Hi everyone,

I'm having some random issues with installing the RC of Win7. I get to the screen where you select your language etc. then if I remember right it says installing/initializing. After about 2 minutes a screen pops up with 'Device Driver Missing' and I can't progress further from there. I've downloaded all the newest up to date drivers for my 3D card, sound etc. and burned them onto a DVD-R. I put that it and still nothing happens and I can't click next.

Anyone care to help?

It seems like you are encountering an issue during the installation of Windows 7 where you are getting a "Device Driver Missing" error message. This can happen if the installation process is unable to find or load the necessary drivers for your hardware components.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check DVD Integrity:
- Ensure that the DVD containing the drivers is properly burned and readable.
- Try using a different DVD drive or USB drive to load the drivers during installation.

2. Load Drivers During Installation:
- When you see the "Device Driver Missing" screen, look for an option to load drivers.
- Insert the DVD with the drivers and browse to the specific driver needed for the hardware causing the issue.

3. Ensure Correct Drivers:
- Verify that you have downloaded the correct drivers for your specific hardware components.
- Sometimes drivers for different versions of Windows may not work properly, so ensure you have Windows 7-compatible drivers.

4. Check BIOS Settings:
- Access your computer's BIOS settings and check if there are any specific settings related to device recognition or SATA mode that need adjustment.
- Ensure that the storage controller mode (IDE/AHCI/RAID) is set correctly to avoid driver conflicts.

5. Try Different Installation Media:
- If possible, try creating a new installation media using a different method (USB drive instead of DVD, or vice versa) to rule out any issues with the current media.

6. Disconnect Unnecessary Hardware:
- Disconnect any unnecessary external hardware devices during the installation process.
- Sometimes conflicts with external devices can cause driver installation issues.

7. Check Hardware Compatibility:
- Verify that the hardware components in your system are compatible with Windows 7. Sometimes older hardware may not have proper driver support for newer operating systems.

Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the "Device Driver Missing" error during the Windows 7 installation process. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
