Am using the Windows 7 RC Build 7100 and the Aero theme for my desktop. Every now and again I get a warning that Windows has detected that my system is running slow and suggests that I use a less taxing theme. The problem is that my system is not running slow at all so the warning seems somewhat inexplicable.

My specs:
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Intel Core I7 920
6 GB Corsair XMS DDR3
2x GTX275 SLI
WD Velociraptor 300GB (for OS and progs)

Everything runs at stock speeds.

The task manager and control panel both recognize my CPU and RAM so it should realize that I have more than enough to run the Aero themes.

If anyone has a solution, plz help...

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with Windows 7 detecting your system as running slow when using the Aero theme, despite your hardware configuration being more than capable of handling it. This warning might be triggered by certain performance thresholds set within Windows 7. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

Check for Background Processes

  1. Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check for any background processes that might be consuming resources unnecessarily. Look out for any resource-intensive applications or services.

  2. Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary startup programs that might be running in the background and consuming resources. You can manage startup programs through Task Manager or MSConfig.

    Adjust Visual Effects Settings

  3. Performance Options: Adjust Windows visual effects settings to optimize performance.
    • Right-click on "Computer" > "Properties" > "Advanced system settings" > "Settings" under Performance.
    • Choose "Adjust for best performance" or manually tweak settings to suit your preferences.

      Update Graphics Drivers

[]Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can lead to performance issues.
    • Visit the Nvidia website to download and install the latest drivers for your GTX275 GPUs.

      Monitor System Performance

    [
]Resource Monitoring: Keep an eye on system performance using tools like Resource Monitor to identify any spikes in CPU, RAM, or disk usage that might coincide with the warning.
    • Search for "Resource Monitor" in the Start menu and monitor system performance in real-time.

      Additional Troubleshooting

[]Check for Updates: Make sure your Windows 7 operating system is fully updated with the latest patches and updates. []Disable Aero Peek: Try disabling specific Aero features like Aero Peek to see if that helps alleviate the issue. By following these steps, you might be able to address the warning message about system performance despite having a capable hardware configuration. If the issue persists, it might be worth exploring further diagnostics or reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance.
