NUMBER TWO PC maker Acer claims that it has been doing well after Microsoft released its Windows 7 operating system last month.
Acer's CEO Gianfranco Lanci told hacks that he is predicting 15 per cent sales growth for next year based on Windows 7.
Lanci said that when he saw the features of Windows 7, he knew it would be good for computer demand and based on the sales figures so far he has no plans to revise that view.
Acer, which expects 50 per cent growth in the global netbook market to 42 million units in 2010, reported a quarterly net profit of $108 million last month, up 14 per cent from a year earlier.
Dell has also claimed it saw a spike in sales thanks to the Windows 7 launch. Hewlett-Packard, the world's number one PC maker and largest supplier of technology products, raised its annual outlook as growth in China helped its quarterly sales. µ
