Hi, I have a dell that came with Vista, I was given W7 for grad school and when I up graded it went to the smaller "D" or "recovery" drive and not the "C" Drive. The weird thing is that I still have the original files on the "C" drive. And now when I reload MS Office 07 it goes to the "D" drive, which alerted me to the error. How do I get the program over to "C" drive or how do I go back to Vista. Thanks

It sounds like your Windows 7 upgrade resulted in the program installations defaulting to the recovery partition (D: drive) instead of the main system partition (C: drive). To resolve this and ensure your installations and programs are on the C: drive, you have a few options:

Move Program Files to the C: Drive

  1. Reinstall Microsoft Office 2007: You can uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office 2007, making sure to select the C: drive during the installation process.
  2. Symbolic Links: You can use symbolic links to redirect program installations from the D: drive to the C: drive without uninstalling and reinstalling the software. However, this method requires some technical knowledge to set up correctly.

    Returning to Windows Vista

If you want to revert back to Windows Vista, here are the general steps to follow:
  3. Backup Your Data: Ensure you back up all important files and data as the process may involve wiping the current Windows 7 installation.
  4. Reinstall Windows Vista: You will need a Windows Vista installation disk to reinstall the OS. Boot from the installation media and follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows Vista on the C: drive.
  5. Restore Data: After installing Vista, you can restore your backed-up data to the system. Would you like more detailed instructions on any of these steps, or is there a specific method you prefer to try first?
