As an experienced XP Pro user, I am somewhat surprised at what appears to be limitations associated with Win 7 offline file synchronisation process
In XP pro files would sync on log on, log off and as frequently in between as you establised.
However in Win 7 it appears to only sync on log on [and as timed in between] but not on log off - AM I CORRECT?

If so am I also correct that there is a strong potential of losing recently updated network files that when you log off [ie after the last timed sync] and as such are not on the remote/network PC/laptop

Has anyone encountered this problem and more importantly identified a way of resolving it please
Thanks

Happy rest of the day

Kind Regards
Alan

Alan, it seems you are comparing the offline file synchronization process between Windows XP Professional and Windows 7. In Windows XP, files would sync on log on, log off, and at other intervals as configured. However, in Windows 7, offline file synchronization typically occurs on log on and periodically in between but not on log off by default.
If you are concerned about the potential of losing recently updated network files that may not have synced before logging off, there are a few considerations and solutions:
### Windows 7 Offline File Synchronization Process:

### Windows 7 Offline File Synchronization Process:
- By default, Windows 7 synchronizes offline files at log on and at scheduled intervals while the computer is still on. This means that if you make changes to files offline and then immediately shut down or log off, those changes may not sync back to the network location.
### Ways to Address the Issue:
1. Manual Sync Before Logging Off: Before logging off, you can manually sync the offline files to ensure that any recent changes are updated on the network. Here's how you can manually synchronize offline files:
- Open Sync Center by typing "Sync Center" in the Start menu search box.
- Select "Sync" to manually synchronize the offline files before logging off.
2. Adjust Sync Schedule: You can adjust the synchronization schedule to sync more frequently.
- Open Sync Center.
- Click on "Manage offline files."
- Go to "Schedule" and adjust the settings to sync more frequently.
3. Scripts or Third-Party Tools: Some users have implemented scripts or used third-party tools to force synchronization during log off. However, these methods may require additional technical knowledge and caution.
### Community Feedback:
It would be beneficial to check online forums or Microsoft's official documentation for any updates or solutions provided by users who may have encountered similar issues with Windows 7 offline file synchronization.
Keep in mind that the behavior you described is the default configuration, but there are ways to mitigate the risk of losing updated network files. I hope this information helps you maintain better control over your offline file synchronization process in Windows 7. Have a great day!
