New member here. Upgraded to from Windows 7 Home Premium over the weekend. I have a HP Pavillion (s5257c model#). After the "upgrade" Windows DVD maker no longer works and the disk drive no longer plays CD's or DVD's. Is there any way to rectify these problems? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Solution
Try this, it has worked for some::
Right click the start button and select "run"
Copy and paste this, and enter, then restart the computer.

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
so it can't see any disc in the drive or it can but just wont play the mp3 music files yet?

It won't even recognize a disc is in. And in This PC DVD RW Drive has vanished. It's like the computer doesn't know there is a disk drive attached to the computer.
