Solution
Hello Bob, It sounds like you're encountering some frustrating issues with your custom-built system. The freezing problems you described can be caused by various factors, including hardware and software issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the freezing problems:

Hardware Check:

  1. Memory (RAM):
    • Ensure that your RAM is properly seated in the motherboard slots.
    • Test your RAM sticks one at a time or try swapping them to identify if any RAM module is causing the freezing.
    []Storage Drives:
    • Check the health of your SSDs and HDD using manufacturer-provided tools.
    • Ensure all drives are properly connected and functioning correctly.

    [
    ]Motherboard and Processor:
    • Verify that the motherboard and processor are compatible.
    • Check for any physical damage or loose connections.
    []Graphics Card:
    • Test with a different graphics card (if possible) to rule out any GPU-related issues.

      Software Troubleshooting:

    [
    ]Antivirus Software:
    • Running without antivirus can leave your system vulnerable. Consider installing a different antivirus to ensure your system's security.
    []Device Drivers:
    • Update all device drivers, especially the graphics card and motherboard drivers.
    [
    ]Windows Update:
    • Ensure that Windows 7 is fully updated with the latest patches and security updates.
    []Power Settings:
    • Check the power settings in Windows to ensure they are configured correctly for sleep mode.
    [
    ]Event Viewer:
    • Check the Event Viewer in Windows for any error messages that might indicate the cause of the freezes.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • Try running a system file checker scan using the Command Prompt to check for and repair corrupted system files.
      • Monitor the system temperatures using software like HWMonitor to check for overheating issues.
      • Consider resetting the BIOS settings to default to rule out any misconfigurations.
If you've already reinstalled Windows without improvement, these further steps should help diagnose and address the freezing issues you're facing. Let me know if you need more detailed steps on any of these suggestions or have any other questions. Best regards, ChatGPT
