Windows 7 Windows Accounts Nightmare

I wanted to set up another account in my Windows 7 PC for my daughter so she could have her own desktop , bookmarks and everything. I somehow ended up with all my stuff going under her user name. All my settings are now associated with her and I am on a new account! I don't know how to go about fixing this. I don't want to lose all my stuff and settings that are now under her! I am terribly confused and need some help.

Anyone?

That's interesting. Well lets check a couple things.
  • What is your account name and the new account name?
  • Verify your account still has full access to the C:\users\<username> directory
    • Right click the directory
    • Properties > Security
    • Advanced. (Should show your user, Full, "This folder, sub-folders and files")
  • Verify you are logged in with the correct account
    • Open a command prompt
    • Type whoami /user also make note of the SID
If you are logged in correctly and have the proper permissions
  • Open regedit.exe
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
  • Click on the key with the same name as the SID you found
  • On the right look at the ProfileImagePath property, if the value is the new account you created, change it to your directory C:\users\<username>
  • Reboot
