I am used to Press " Windows Logo Button + E " to start windows explorer, I can open multiple WE, but now for some odd reason, it opens one only.

Even if I go right click on the Win Logo/start button, choose windows explorer, it opens only one, and if I try again, it points to the current open WE !!

any ideas what is going on?

It seems like you're facing an issue where Windows Explorer (File Explorer) only opens one instance, even if you try to open multiple windows. This behavior can be due to various reasons such as settings or configurations. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
  1. Taskbar Settings:
    • Right-click on the Taskbar.
    • Select "Taskbar settings."
    • Scroll down to the "Combine taskbar buttons" section.
    • Make sure it is set to "Never" or "When taskbar is full" instead of "Always."
    []Folder Options:
    • Open File Explorer.
    • Go to the "View" tab.
    • Click on "Options" on the right side.
    • In the "Folder Options" window, go to the "View" tab.

    ]Registry Editor (Advanced Users):
    • Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
    • Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    • Look for a DWORD value named DesktopProcess, if it exists, double-click on it and change its value to 1.
    • Restart your computer and check if the issue persists.
    []Shortcut Properties:
    • Right-click on the Windows Explorer shortcut.
    • Select "Properties."
    • In the "Shortcut" tab, ensure that the "Run" dropdown is set to "Normal window."

    ]Malware Check:
    • Perform a scan using your antivirus software to rule out any malware causing this behavior. After trying these steps, attempt to open Windows Explorer using the Win + E key combination or by right-clicking on the Start button. This should ideally open separate instances of Windows Explorer for each attempt. If the issue persists, please provide more details about your Windows version for further assistance.
