I'm currently sharing my internet connection with another computer (both run windows 7). The other computer can only access the internet if the computer holding the dial up connection has windows firewall turned off. I tried to add an exception in windows firewall for port 80 but did not have any effect.
The local area connection adapter on the computer that's holding the internet connection has the following settings:
Before looking atthe ICS problem there is something wrong with this config. The IP address, default gateway and subnet mask are not compatible. For a default gateway of 192.168.10.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 the IP address must be of the foram 192.168.10.*

i have removed the default gateway ip, i wasnt sure why it was there, everything seems ok, but when i turn on windows firewall on, ICS doesnt function :/

You cannot just "remove" a default gateway - it is needed to access LAN and WAN components. Please post a full listing of your ipconfig so we can see the whole picture.
just an update... when windows firewall is on, i get a "dns server not respondig" message when trying to resolve the internet connection on the other pc, (clicking on the red cross)
