Windows 7 Windows.old after system recovery

If a person with a OEM computer uses the system recovery partition to restore their operating system is a Windows.old file generated?

As I understand this, using the recovery partition formats the partition. So I'm guessing that a Window.old file would not be created?

Basically no.
Windows.old is usually seen after an upgrade.
