Hello,

I have two Windows 7 HP questions.

1. I have a folder with a bunch of subfolders inside that are full of pictures that I had ported over, sitting in my documents. I want to use the slideshow feature in the taskbar (like in "Pictures') in these folders, but it doesn't show up. Is there a way to enable this feature for these subfolders. *when I place a folder in the 'pictures folder' the slideshow feature works, outside of the folder: no* [SOLVED]

2. For desktop background: when selecting 'Picture location:', there is a folder in the list that no longer exists. how do I delete the particular folder reference from the list?

Regards,

Ryan

Hello Ryan, I can help you with both of your Windows 7 Home Premium questions:

1. Slideshow Feature for Subfolders:

To enable the slideshow feature for subfolders inside a main folder containing pictures, you can follow these steps:
  • Create Library: You can add the main folder containing your subfolders to a Library, such as the Pictures Library, to utilize the slideshow feature. Here's how you can do it:
    1. Open Windows Explorer.
    2. Right-click on Libraries in the navigation pane and select "New" > "Library."
    3. Name the new Library (e.g., "My Pictures") and press Enter.
    4. Right-click on the new Library and choose "Properties."
    5. Click on "Include a folder" and add the main folder that contains your subfolders...

    5. Click on "Include a folder" and add the main folder that contains your subfolders with pictures.
    6. Set the new Library as the source for the slideshow: right-click on your Library and select "Set as default save location." By adding the main folder to a Library, you can access the slideshow feature for all its subfolders containing pictures.

      2. Removing Invalid Desktop Background Folder References:

To remove a folder that no longer exists from the list of folders in the Picture location for the desktop background, you can manually delete the registry entry associated with this reference. Here's how you can delete the specific folder reference:
    7. Registry Editor: Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    8. Navigate: Go to the following location in the Registry Editor:
      Code:
       HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Wallpapers\Images
    9. Find Invalid Entry: Look for the folder that no longer exists in the list of entries.
    10. Delete: Right-click on the entry corresponding to the invalid folder and select "Delete."
    11. Confirmation: Confirm the deletion when prompted. Always be careful when editing the registry. Make sure to back up your registry before making any changes. After deleting the reference to the non-existent folder, it should no longer appear in the list of folder locations for the desktop background. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
