Im not a guy, but I had the same trouble. When you scan the channels they are added to the registry. In Vista its OK in Windows 7 it wont update the scanned channels in the registry for some reason. I had a work around; very clumsy. As I dual boot to the Windows 7 beta testing and Vista I had to copy ChannelSeq and ChannelTable from the Vista registry to Windows 7. It works OK. I suppose that as the software with the Winfast can't update the registry then it won't list the channels.
