Is there a way to change the default format of word pad? It is set to a very wide line and paragraph spacing, so that I must reset it to ordinary spacing every time I use it. Widows 7 Professional.

Solution
In Windows 7, WordPad doesn't have advanced options for changing default formats like Microsoft Word. However, you can modify the default font and size settings in WordPad using a workaround. Here's how to adjust the default formatting in WordPad:
  1. Open WordPad: Launch WordPad from the Start menu or by searching for it.
  2. Adjust Formatting:
    • Set the font style and size, line spacing, and paragraph settings to your preference.
    • Make any changes you want to keep as defaults.
[]Save as Default: You cannot directly set these as default, but you can save a blank WordPad document with your preferred settings as a template that you can open each time you start WordPad. []Create a Template...

    • After adjusting the formatting, click on "File" > "Save As."
    • Choose a location and then set the "Save as type" to "Rich Text Format (*.rtf)."
    • Save the file with a recognizable name like "MyWordPadTemplate.rtf."
  3. Use the Template:
    • Whenever you want to start WordPad with your preferred formatting, open this template file. Then, you can start working on it and save it separately when done. While this method is not as convenient as changing default settings within the application itself, it provides a way to have a consistent starting point in WordPad with your preferred formatting each time you open it. Alternatively, if you need more advanced features and formatting options, you might consider using a more robust word processing software like Microsoft Word or Google Docs, which provide better customization options for default formatting.
