The thread discusses how to add detailed, portable comments to multiple .mp4 video files in a folder, similar to comments in Excel, with the original poster seeking a method to attach marked, detailed notes that travel with the files. The responses indicate that Windows File Explorer doesn't natively support such rich, portable comments, with one suggesting third-party software and another recommending consulting an expert for tailored solutions. Overall, the consensus is that native support is limited, and external tools may be needed.

Hello,

I have a folder that has lots of home video (.mp4) files. To each file, I would like to insert a comment highlighting the contents of the file. This is similar to adding a comment in Excel for each cell. A red triangle or something else can mark that there is a comment to that file. And I would like this to be portable so that when the file is copied, the comments go with it.

Is there a way to do this in File Explorer? I know that I can add a "Comment" field. But it can be only a few words. And that is not enough.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome

Natively I'm not sure that's possible. You might want to search for a 3rd party software that offers such a thing.
