I do believe Windows 7 schedules a disk defrag for 1:00AM every Wednesday by default. That being said I really like to use Auslogics Disk Defrag (Google it) from time to time to manually defrag my hard drive.

Hi

And I use Defraggler which works very well and is free.
It comes from the same people who make CCleaner.

What I like most about it is that you can opt to do a file defrag everyday.
This takes only a few minutes and keeps things nice and tidy.

Initially and about every 6 months I do a full defrag.

Windows 7 defragmentation works fine. I have never found the need to do anything else.
