I recently purchased an open-boxed Asus notebook which originally qualified for the Windows 7 Upgrade. However upon entering the notebook's serial # it seems it's already been registered for the upgrade by the previous owner. Am I now out of luck or do I still have some recourse for the upgrade since I am now the current legal owner of this notebook? Thanks for any advice.

Solution
Depends on the conditions surrrounding the open box purchase.

Any flaws/ omissions should have been clearly pointed out by the retailer. If not - you can return for refund.
