Windows usually warns users about duplicate files as long as they are in the same folder but it seems there are issues in Windows 7.
Therefore you can use this solution (CCleaner is free):

An image from 'How can i remove all duplicate transferred files????'. CCleaner Free's Duplicate Finder tool is set to search for duplicate files by multiple criteria on C: drive.
