📎 AI Summary:
The thread discusses how to access the BIOS before Windows login using the onscreen keyboard (OSK). The original poster wants to use OSK at startup due to disability but learns from others that OSK can't run outside Windows or from BIOS. A suggestion is made to access BIOS via Windows recovery options, but it’s clarified that the F8 menu is for advanced startup, not BIOS, and OSK isn't available at that stage. Overall, it concludes that using OSK before login or BIOS isn't feasible.

I use the w10 onscreen keyboard on my desktop pc because of disability & would very much like to use the osk at the initial startup so I can access the bios prior to boot & login ... thanks...

Hello WillyWombat,

You might want to consider entering the BIOS from the Settings app instead which you should be able to do by tapping on the screen and without using the keyboard.

It can be done from Settings app > Update and Security > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart Now > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings.

Not possible, osk is a Windows binary. There's no way to run it from BIOS.

thanks for quick reply ...I don't want to use osk to run bios , I need to access bios prior to login ... eg F8 at startup ... Once in bios i can change settings etc with inbuilt bios tools ...

The F8 menu is the advanced start up menu which is different from BIOS. The OSK isn't available in the ADM either.
