I used PC Tools Registry Mechanics a few years ago and they slipped in an automatic renewal feature that nobody noticed unti they got billed. Webroot bought PC Tools a while ago and appar incorporated the same it's apparently hidden in their Terms of Use and you have to opt out manually. I just found out when I got my credit card bill Sat. Some of these legit companies use some pretty slimy tricks trying to get your money. Yes they will refund if you send in a claim. It's just really irritating how sneaky they are in "helping you".
