According to Wikipedia, about 98 percent of the more than a billion mobile phones sold each year use at least one ARM CPU.

So , why not Microsoft consider Windows 7 for ARM-based Systems.

Now , i am not saying that you would run windows 7 on your high-end smart phone , but there is a lot of device to full the gap between high-end mobile phone and laptops, like UMPC , netbooks ... etc

And ARM based system is appealing to many system designers because of the many system on chip implementations already available on the market + the Ultra low voltage of ARM CPU's .

And It would be cool if i can run windows 7 on my HTC mobile 🙂

There are rumours that Microsoft is planning to release a new version of Windows 8, and it is wildly believed that the new Window 8 will support ARM Processor. Recently Microsoft has agreed to license an ARM CPU design license, if the information is correct the for certain Microsoft will port ARM into the new Windows 8, and this will mean an end to the WinTel monopoly.
