I like to use google on my windows 10 computer but every few weeks or so the computer likes to switch back to yahoo without my input of any kind. I even delete the search engine from my list of search engines and it still comes back every few weeks. I believe this to be because of the McAfee antivirus software that came preinstalled on my computer (which I no longer use), but I don't know how to go about either removing yahoo from the McAfee software or removing McAfee entirely. Solution
I would remove McAfee if it's no longer in use as it uses a lot of system resources and yes it can change your search engine.
- Press [Windows key + i]
- Click on Apps
- Either scroll through the list or search McAfee
- Click each McAfee item (there may be multiple items) and select Uninstall
- If any of them prompt you to reboot you can select no
- Once all items are uninstalled reboot to complete the uninstalls
