Whenever I try to print something, it takes too long to allow me to print and it takes a while to print too. Any ideas why?

I'm afraid I have more questions than answers.
Is it only Acrobat 9 Pro?
How many printers are configured in your printers folder?
How is you default printer attached (usb, lpt, network)?
Did this just start happening?
What printer is it (manufacturer, and model number)?
Do you have the latest driver for that particular printer installed?
Check printer properties and see if you can disable bi-directional printing or perhaps choose print directly to printer and see if that helps
