📎 AI Summary:
The user is experiencing issues installing .NET Framework 4.5 because Windows reports a newer version (4.6.1) is already installed, despite regedit showing older versions. Suggestions from others include checking installed programs via Control Panel and possibly uninstalling and reinstalling specific versions, but attempts to install 4.5 after uninstalling 4.6.1 did not resolve the problem. Overall, the thread reflects a troubleshooting effort to resolve version conflicts preventing software installation, with ongoing issues remaining at the end.

Hi All

Trying to run software which needs 4.5. I check my status with regedit and this shows various versions 3. 3.5 and 4.0. When I then try and instal from Microsoft, the installer states I already have an equivalent or superior version installed etc.

Can someone help me get out of this vicious circle?

Thanks for your time.

4.6.1 contains 4.5 4.5.1 4.5.2, 4.6 and 4.6.1 in it. What are you trying to install? My guess is the installer has a primitive way for checking for 4.5

Does it show up under Control Panel > Programs and Features?

Not necessarily. Let me know what program it is, I'm sure there's a way to trick it.

Thanks. The prog is one which allows you to manipulate various video game files. I'll uninstall and reinstall just 4.5 and see what that does.

Thanks again.
