It is a way to network and share things like video music etc between PCs running Windows 7 only.

So it only works with other PCs that have W7? Is there a down side to using it? Does it cause problems for non-W7 PCs accessing digital content on the W7 system?

Other systems cannot access the windows 7 machines.
