Windows 7 Background shown, no install performed

On boot from the disk (oem), I get the usual "windows is loading files", upon completion I am presented with thee win7 background with working mouse icon and nothing else... At no time am I presented with any install options, not even a Hard drive format. Any Ideas, fixes or ifall else work around??

mlb: gigabyte ga-ep4-udl3
video: nvidia 8400
memory: 8Mb ddr2
hdd: wd 1Tb green drive
using the onboard gigabyte nic and sound

hardware is relatively new except the vid, card
hdd is unformated is a virgin
currently running Ubuntu linx 9.10 like a champ
may try taking machine and disk to Frys and see what I can get the repair bench to do (maybe try their disk)
