 I have spent nearly 2 weeks trying to do a clean install of Win 7 RC, and have finally managed it with much help from another part of this Forum. Now that it is up and running I would like to be able to use it, but the current layout of Windows Explorer and Desktop folders is quite foreign to me. I have been using the Classic format, at least since W95, and would like to continue for a while until I see whether Libraries etc have any benefit for me. For Desktop folders I have been used to collecting shortcuts to similar topics into folders with a single window with toolbars above and a status bar below.

Is this possible in Win 7? I've found no reference to Classic Folders in this Forum topic.

Solution
Unfortunately Classic Folders are gone in Windows 7.:frown:

I preferred them myself.

Go to Control Panel > Folder Options and make sure Always Show Menus is checked.

I don't believe it checked by default.

Thanks reghakr, Always Show Menus was not checked - but it is now. The folders look better already!
