Windows 10 Reduce windows freezing/lockup time on trying to access non existant folder?

If I have a folder pointing to a network share that does not exist and I try to open that folder windows will 'freeze' that folder for about 30 seconds while windows tries to find it before telling me it can't.... Same thing happens if I know its not a valid shortcut and try to right click on it...

Windows 7 Taskbar: How to remove glaze form in-active items?

Bump? I had found a third party solution to this. It involved download the images the OS uses for the taskbar, creating your own (like a proper color) on editing each one in GIMP. It was a pain, but once it was done the taskbar was a lot easier to use. Can't find the link at this moment...

    Windows 7 win7 shenanigans

I just do not know and cant imagine any possible scenario where Microsoft would think to themselves this (auto sorting) is a good thing... Its one thing adding an idiotic option as default that makes your life more difficult... But to make it the only option? This drives me crazy. Makes my life...

    Windows 7 win7 shenanigans

I go to delete a file and Microsoft says 'preparing to delete'. No preparation was needed, its a 10kb file. So its very simple, delete the file win7, ive already closed the program that was using it (and confirmed in task manager). If its another program, then tell me what it is. MS shenanigans...

Windows 7 win7 auto sorting making win7 horrible

I have this 'disorder' where I like my files to be organized and easy to access in a user friendly manner… My problem is win7 makes things needlessly difficult. By far my biggest issue is moving files around…. I might have a folder with a few dozen (or a few hundred) files, so when I cut/paste...

Windows 7 I want my programs to open up in my window. MS stop sucking.

Ive indirectly worked for MS before (vista tech rep when it launched), so I am not sure how much (if any) contact you have with MS programmers... but if I could only change one thing in MS vista, win7, and win8: The option to disable auto refreshing in folders.... This drives me crazy and makes...

Windows 7 I want my programs to open up in my window. MS stop sucking.

Win7 has a about 50-75 problems, yet instead of MS spending time fixing it, they made an even worse OS (win8). MS trolling us? ....Why is it so hard for win7 to open up applications in the active window? Its the window im using, its the window that launched the app, yet MS feels the need to...

Windows 7 How to launch volume adjuster application from "start"

man, win7 never stops surprising me, even after years of using it I still find flaws in it.. I gave up on this and made it a permanent item on the start menu. I did not want this item on my desktop, and I did find a way to do in in the control panel it required many clicks. Major PITA for a...

Windows 7 How to launch volume adjuster application from "start"

Using only start (or the shell thing), how do I launch the "volume mixer" application so I can control the sound level of my computer? Note: No keyboard, no access to system tray, no questions.

Windows 7 How to tag videos?

that web page just tells me some file will work with tags while others wont... I need to figure out some way to make it work with the files that dont work by default (videos).

Windows 7 How to tag videos?

If click on a picture it gives me the ability to add tags, but if I click on a video I am missing that ability. The same can be said when I view the "details" tab after I go into the properties window. Whats going on? I got over 100 000 pictures, there no way id ever tag them... Id have to quit...

Windows 7 Taskbar: How to remove glaze form in-active items?

its a bug in win7, its not a virus. The problem is the task bar is transparent... 100% best setup: Set "Color Intensity" in "Window Color and Appearance" at the lowest level, and have black background. Worse setup: Same setup but with a white background (like dragging a folder over). At its...

Windows 7 Taskbar: How to remove glaze form in-active items?

In windows 7 there is a glaze on the active window, but in a cruel joke by MS, every other window also has a glaze (just a bit less). Note: My taskbar is using the old style from Win XP. How do I fix this? Ive tried playing with the themes, and at best I can make the active window look more...
