Windows 11 Will require BitLocker ...?

I have read that Win11 will require that BitLocker is installed and activated using the newer v2.0 TPM chip. Using no TPM chip, or the v1.2 chip will not allow Win11 to operate. Win11 seems to gets more complicated with more potential for backdoors. It will need to be out for quite a while...

Windows 10 My PC has 6 drives

OK, I think I may be beginning to understand why I'm having so much trouble trying to convert drives E/ thru G/ to being Logical drives. MBR drives, D/: and H/: can have both primary and logical partitions. C/:, E/:, F/:, and G/: are GPT drives. Their 1st partition must be primary. C/...

Windows 10 My PC has 6 drives

I see that there is. A primary drive/partition can be made active, which these already are. Which tells me that actions can be initiated from them as in drives C: and D:, by installed apps. By everything as I understand, malware and other things could be installed there and be active. If they're...

    Windows 10 Nonexistant USB Drives

Thank you, I had installed a case front card reader a few weeks ago plugging it into a connection on the mobo. It has 2 card slots and 2 USB ports on it, 4 total. When I plug a card into one of the slots, the card shows up on one of the extra drives. I believer you have explained it to me. They...

    Windows 10 Nonexistant USB Drives

On My "This PC" page, I show 4 extra nonexistent USB drives. Little doubt they showed up when I used some thumb drives. In my PCs POST setup there are shown 4 extra drives, "General MassStorage Drive Class 2952", numbers 00 thru 03. I believe these point towards the same nonexistent drives...

Windows 10 How to share a single folder on my PC with a single person over the I-Net, ...If possible?

I have a large folder, several 10s of Terabytes, on my PC that I would like to share with an individual without giving them full access to everything to my PC. I do have a VPN, Bitlocker, and maybe other things that may apply to this. My address through my IP is dynamic but in reality it is...

Windows 10 Strange happenings in a new Win10 install

I found what was directing to the hr.exet file during startup. In the Startup folder was a start.bat file. It was doing it. Deleting it and the ini file has eliminated the problem. I am confident that my AV, AM and Acronis have stopped and/or removed all other traces of the ransomware.

Windows 10 Strange happenings in a new Win10 install

I have found signs that a ransomware attack was made. It was stopped by one or more of my defenses, AVG, Malwarebytes, ZoneAlarm, or Acronis. I have deleted the html page from the data drive and have run scan after scan. Everything now says that I am clean. The startup notification in the...

Windows 10 Strange happenings in a new Win10 install

As I said earlier, there is no sign of a ransomware attack other that the strange appearance of that html page showing up on a data drive. And, yes I have backup images of my drives.

Windows 10 Strange happenings in a new Win10 install

The ransom note has a date stamp 0f 6/27, three days ago. The cmd prompt with the lost " hr.exet " file note had been going on for maybe a few days longer (?). I can find nothing about " hr.exet ", what it is, or what it does. Somewhere in there I installed Acronis TIH. It is supposed to have...

Windows 10 Strange happenings in a new Win10 install

Just did a new PC build and have been forced to upgrade to Win10, --- Not a happy camper, but resigned to it. A few days ago I began getting this every time the OS is loaded: Then, I found this on one of my data drives about the same time: There has been nothing to indicate a ransomware...

Windows 7 Win 7 voice recognition question

There may be something out there that can do what you want. But, It'll probably be in the kilo-buck or higher range, something governments or enterprises might be willing to pay for. You are asking for a very sophisticated type of software.

Windows 7 Why is Nero Burning Rom rated so low on TopTenRevies ?

Look at what the reviews cover. They are reviewing Burning ROM not the Nero Suite. While N.B.R. can be purchased separately, it is only part of what is in the complete suite of burning apps. Nero Burning ROM is knocked down because it does not deal with video formats: NTSC, PAL, WMV, and so on...
