The short answer for Xbox owners
- Xbox Series X|S: not announced.
- PS5: confirmed, including PS5 Pro enhancement.
- PC: confirmed. Steam and the Epic Games Store are the storefronts listed.
- Earliest possible Xbox date: October 29, 2027, based on the exclusivity wording described below. That is not an announced release date.
DLCompare's report says developer S-Game has yet to announce an Xbox version, and that PS5 and PC are the only announced launch platforms. That is accurate as far as it goes. It leaves out the console exclusivity window, which matters more for Xbox planning than the 2024 "not ruled out" comment.
The 12-month fine print
The release-date trailer shown at The Game Awards in December 2025 ended with a legal card. According to PlayStation Universe, it said the game is "also available on PC" and not available on other consoles until at least 12 months after the release date. I'm quoting only the first part. Insider Gaming and Game8 describe the same end-card wording.
This is a minimum, not a schedule. Three points follow from it:
- It is console-specific. PC players get the game on day one. That is why outlets describe it as a console exclusive rather than a full PlayStation exclusive.
- It covers every other console. Xbox is included, and so is Switch 2.
- The date has moved. The trailer first shown in December 2025 pointed to a September 9, 2026 launch. S-Game's own creative-director letter, dated June 2, 2026, says the game moved to October 29, 2026 from September 9. The 12-month clock therefore runs from the later date. The earliest an Xbox version could appear is late October 2027, not September 2027 as some earlier coverage said.
Some of that earlier coverage now looks stale. It was written when the launch was September 2026, so any "September 2027" Xbox date should be treated as outdated.
What S-Game said in 2024
In August 2024, a report quoted an unnamed S-Game staff member dismissing Xbox. The studio responded with a statement that the remarks didn't reflect its values. It also said it had "not ruled out any platforms." Game Rant notes that the studio said it had not ruled out additional platform releases after that report.
That statement is the entire official record on Xbox. It says nothing about development having started, a commitment to a port, or a window. Several outlets read the exclusivity wording more optimistically. TechWiser says the game is "yes, but not right away" for Xbox. The more cautious outlets stay closer to the evidence. One of them notes that S-Game hasn't announced Xbox Series X|S or Switch 2 versions.
Taken together, the two pieces of evidence are consistent:
- The 2024 statement says Xbox isn't ruled out in principle.
- The trailer card says no other console gets the game for at least a year.
- Neither one is a plan, and neither is a cancellation.
Precedent, and its limits
Several outlets point to Silent Hill 2. It moved from a PlayStation head start to Xbox about a year later. PlayStation Universe notes that remake has since been released for Xbox Series X/S one year after its PS5 and PC debut. That shows timed deals can end with Xbox ports. It is a pattern, not evidence about Phantom Blade Zero specifically. Each publisher's decision stands on its own, and S-Game hasn't said anything on the subject.
Where Windows and Xbox players come in
For anyone who owns a capable PC, the PC route is open on day one. PC storefronts are the practical path for Xbox-ecosystem players who don't want to wait.
The Steam and Epic pages list these Windows requirements:
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) |
| CPU | Intel Core i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i5-10600K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| GPU | GTX 1660 6GB / RX 5500 XT 8GB | RTX 3060 Ti 8GB / RX 6700 XT 12GB |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
Steam's page also says:
- The minimum target is 1080p at 30 FPS with upscaling enabled.
- The recommended target is 1440p at 60 FPS with upscaling enabled.
- The game needs an SSD.
- The game uses Denuvo DRM.
Steam shows pre-purchase prices of $59.99 for the standard edition and $69.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Steam currently lists the release as October 28, 2026. The studio's site and the PlayStation listing say October 29. The PlayStation listing gives 02:00 UTC on October 29. That likely reflects time zones rather than a separate launch. Check the exact unlock time for your region before you plan around it.
What to do now
- Xbox-only players: don't buy anything on the assumption an Xbox version is coming. Wait for an announcement from S-Game or Microsoft.
- Players with a gaming PC: compare your hardware with the table above, especially the SSD and GPU requirements. Then decide whether launch day matters to you.
- Game Pass subscribers: nothing has been announced. A Game Pass release would need an Xbox version first, and none exists.
Bottom line
"Not ruled out," "not announced," and "not available on other consoles for at least 12 months" are three different statements. Only the third is a firm commitment, and it works against Xbox owners. The earliest possible Xbox date is October 29, 2027. Whether a port arrives at all is still up to S-Game.
