Hello all
I keep my work files on a USB stick that is attached to my laptop. Several times a day a window pops up, showing me the content of the drive, as i had just connected it.
Why is this happening? It's a new laptop. Yes, i could turn off autoplay to "not do anything" when a pendrive is...

Safety remove, autoplay, clock, mail client and on and on. Every time I thought I was ok something else turned up. I did the spring update then did a clean update. After personalizing I found...

I have 2 external hard drives. When I plug either of them into a USB port I hear the normal beep sound, indicating they've been recognized but they don't automatically play, even though auto play is enabled . They don't even show up in "this PC", as if they...
Hello,
After installation of windows 10 on my laptop (and keeping also my previous windows 7), I can't play DVDs and CDs. I went to control panel and Autoplay to re-define how to play the medias, that does not work. If I put a CD or a DVD, it is rejected. What can I do to solve that, please...
Suddenly my two cd roms stopped reading and displaying the files on any cd inserted. Windows recognizes and displays the title of the cd inserted in the navigation column of explorer, but when I click to display contents in details pane the drives just keep spinning and nothing is displayed. If...
I am running Windows 7 Pro. My DVD/CD drive (HL-DT-ST_BDDVDRW_CT30F) plays commercial CDs fine. And it can (usually) burn a CD from a file on my laptop. But it is never able to play the CD it just burned. Any idea what is going on?
I say it can usually burn a CD, because often it does not even...

In Control Panel, it's turned on and configured to PLAY a CD.
It's not disabled in the Group Policy editor.

I'm trying to add an entry to the AutoPlay dialog that shows up when a USB device is connected to the computer. The problem is that this entry is not displayed in the AutoPlay dialog.

Okay, since there are many questions on this topic, none exactly the same as mine, I'd like to make myself perfectly clear.
I know about Default Programs, and I know about Autoplay settings in the Control Panel.
What I want to achieve is use Media Player Classic (comes with the K-Lite codec...

I can get my usb ports to work with printers, my iphone, etc. However, when I plug in a flash drive, autoplay pops up. I click 'open folder to view files.'
It prompts me that I do not have permission to access the files. To gain access, use the security tab, which does not exist under the link...

When I plugin an external USB hard disc or USB stick it appears that Windows 7 pops up a dialog window asking me:
"Do you want to scan and fix removable disc?"
After reading a while in Internet I saw two methods for disabling these popups:
1.) Disabling service "Shell Hardware detection"...
There is an app here that, when opened, causes all AutoPlay optical media settings to revert to "Take No Action."
Is there an AutoPlay setting that can thwart this, in the same manner that a file can be set to READ ONLY?
I am running Windows 7 professional 64bit service pack 1--Problem is that suddenly Windows "CAN'T READ CD NOT FORMATTED"--I want to burn COREL DRAW FILES to a recordable disc, used to be able to see "AUTOPLAY" open upon CD insert--no longer does it--went into "AUTOPLAY CONFIGURE" set to Windows...
Hi. I'm hoping someone can help as I've spent many evenings on this problem and getting nowhere!
When attaching a flash drive:
1. The autoplay pop up doesn't appear;
2. The device does light up initially;
3. The device doesn't show up in "Computer"
4. The device doesn't show up in Disk...
