Okay, since there are many questions on this topic, none exactly the same as mine, I'd like to make myself perfectly clear.
I know about Default Programs, and I know about Autoplay settings in the Control Panel.
What I want to achieve is use Media Player Classic (comes with the K-Lite codec...

I can get my usb ports to work with printers, my iphone, etc. However, when I plug in a flash drive, autoplay pops up. I click 'open folder to view files.'
It prompts me that I do not have permission to access the files. To gain access, use the security tab, which does not exist under the link...
Both the dvd and blray drives wont see autoplay in any software inclyding windows media
they just wont run when loaded
they wont populate in preferences
they show in explorer and then can be run as files per selection to any player
When I plugin an external USB hard disc or USB stick it appears that Windows 7 pops up a dialog window asking me:
"Do you want to scan and fix removable disc?"
After reading a while in Internet I saw two methods for disabling these popups:
1.) Disabling service "Shell Hardware detection"...
There is an app here that, when opened, causes all AutoPlay optical media settings to revert to "Take No Action."
Is there an AutoPlay setting that can thwart this, in the same manner that a file can be set to READ ONLY?
I am running Windows 7 professional 64bit service pack 1--Problem is that suddenly Windows "CAN'T READ CD NOT FORMATTED"--I want to burn COREL DRAW FILES to a recordable disc, used to be able to see "AUTOPLAY" open upon CD insert--no longer does it--went into "AUTOPLAY CONFIGURE" set to Windows...
Hi. I'm hoping someone can help as I've spent many evenings on this problem and getting nowhere!
When attaching a flash drive:
1. The autoplay pop up doesn't appear;
2. The device does light up initially;
3. The device doesn't show up in "Computer"
4. The device doesn't show up in Disk...
Whenever I plug in one of my external USB drives, Windows automatically pops up a window asking me if I want to scan it for errors. Where do I change settings so that it does not automatically do this every time?
Thanks
The SHORT of it:
Upgraded from Windows XP to 7. When I plug the camera in, Windows Explorer "sees" it as "Canon Powershot A540" instead of "drive J:", so the Autoplay does not start.
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, or if this is in the wrong thread. If so, please point me...
Every time I stick a DVD (game/movie) into the drive it comes up with an autoplay box with 1 option, to open the folder to view files. In Explorer the DVD shows up just as a generic DVD - basically as if it were just a blank disc for burning. If I 'explore' the disc there are no playable files...
Ok here is an unusual problem which may or may not be a problem on my PC only. Basically Auto Play options do not work because my account is an Administrator account. :confused3: Yes i surely mean it; with my user account as Administrator and i insert a music CD in the drive it does not play...

Every time I touch my laptop in the wrong place the DVD drive opens. That's annoying. But not half as annoying as the fact that, when I close the drive, Windows Media Player interrupts whatever it's doing to start whatever disk in it. I have AutoPlay in Control Panel set for "Take no action" in...
Hi, I am having problems with autoplay, it doesn't open when I insert a disc. I get a message that tells me that I don't have a program installed as default when opening a dvd, same with audio discs but I have media player. I can still explore and install programs and have found i can open...
