The Venue 8 Pro's biggest problem is now solved
While the Dell Venue 8 Pro is a wonderful Windows 8.1 mini-tablet, I noted in my review that the device ships with its display overly dimmed. This change artificially bumps up the device's battery life but makes it almost unusable. Turns out it...
On a brightness scale of 0-10, my Asus laptop is a .5
I can only see it with room lights off.
A friend told me it might be the display inverter so I ordered one. However, it will take a month from Hong Kong.
Does this sound like the right approach?
Or is there something else that could cause this?
The display on my Fujitsu Lifebook A530 is so bright it's actually painful to watch. Especially at night.
I have tried the F6-F9 keys (marked ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲) that I think are supposed to adjust brightness/contrast but no go.
Any ideas as to what to do? Yeah, shades - but that somehow seems so low-tech.

As long as the power cable is plugged in in my notebook the brightness of my display is fine.
But when I plug it out and use the battery the brightness becomes suddenly darker.
Why?
How can I prevent this switch-to-dark-screen?
I found no corresponding option in the power plans

My boyfriend has my old Medion Akoya MD97620 P6618 laptop. Its had a new battery bought and recently a new hard drive bought. We installed Windows 7 on it, which is obviously a clean install due to the hard drive being blank and new.

I use Pangobright because the brightness of my Toshiba laptop doesn't go as low as I want it to be, when I'm using the laptop in complete darkness. But Pangobright also doesn't seem to go as low as possible, and when I dim it too low, I can't see a part of the screen unless I'm looking down at...

I am using a windows 7 Acer laptop, and the screen only brightens when I plug in the charger. Also, the battery gets used up too quickly, even though I have the computer on 'power saver.' Downloading Bios or a brightness control won't work. The lever goes up and down easily when I bring up the...
