has an easy way been found to change the windows 7 start up sound?

On starting up windows it asks for the password, which I duly enter, but then I get a notice come up saying. The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. This have not happened before, how do I rectify the problem please.

I can't seem to find information that specifically addresses Smart Card usage between Windows 7 versions. Does Windows Home Premium support Smart Card logon? Thanks.
